Informed ny Mr Thomas Cram 18 Waun Fawr Road, Whitchurch Cardiff.

Janet ("Jessie") GALLOWAY

On the Galloway side I have incorporated the birth dates of all George Galloway's children. These were discovered by Norman Carpenter in the Galloway Family Bible which I believe he saw at Ronald Galloway's house, 74 Miskin Street, Treherbert when he visited there on 21 July 1966.
All the Scottish Galloways were born at Hatton Burn Farm and all christened at Balgedie Presbyterian Church.

Originally Janet & Jessie were thought of as 2 different children. NLC's document on 1979 based on the Bible seen in 1966 state that Janet and Jessie were one and the same person.
She is shown in the 1841 census data of Portmoak (3 months) and in the 1851 census of Orwell (age 10). She is not believed to have travelled to Wales with the family. Could she have gone into service? or died. There is a Janet on the 1861 census of Kinneswood (age 16) with a Stewart Galloway (age 60). I do not know if they are Grandfather/Grand-daughter. If so they could be linked to George & Agnes.

Info from Jeff Coleman from his sources (31.8.06)
In 1901 census he seems to be in Cambridge Class: RG13; Piece: 1531; Folio:
73; Page: 24. Source:-Ancestry lodging at 6 Norwich Street as 'Undergraduate
at Cambridge University' along with a Jenkin JONES from Cardiganshire. He
had two rooms.

Alumni Cantabrigiensis is a list of past students at Cambridge University
and Ancestry has a search of it online.

I turned this up. Note that as in the census Ystradyfodwg proved a bit much
for an English writer. He seems to have been a 'non-collegiate student'
which probably means he was attached to a theological college such as Ridley
Hall which were not part of the University at the time.
